So finsta vs a rinsta... but what one is really a rinsta?

A finsta (fake Instagram account) and rinsta (real Instagram account) are two accounts owned by an individual person. One is more of a daily social journal (finsta) and the other (a rinsta) is a reflection of thoughts, goals and aspirations.
Although ones Instagram account is often a first impression of a particular individual, many people keep another more “private”account for close friends only. Whether it be your new college roommate or new friend on your volleyball team, is your main instagram account really the best way to get someone to know you before meeting them? Today it is common for teens to have two instagram accounts. One being a “rinsta”, this is the account that you keep for the public eye to see and allow mutual friends and new friends to follow. While on the other hand a “finsta” is an account that you allow your closer and lifelong friends follow and are more frequently posted on.
I find myself often contemplating whether or not I should post a photo on my rinsta and if I actuallu want 2,000+ people to see what’s going on in my life right at that moment. I know that some of the videos of me and my siblings screaming old rock music in the car is something I would not want my future employer to see.
Whether we like it or not, our social media lives at every age have become factor in how we communicate who we are. Where once it was just celebrities and child actors, now we are all literally growing up in front of the lens.
With this in mind I decided that what a rinsta is in my opinion is a time capsule, its what we want people to remember us as and for. It’s the aesthetic that teens strive to reach. But I’d be lying if I told you I was on my rinsta feed more often. My rinsta is all happy moments and memoryies that have impacted my life and a refelction of emotions that I felt were worth sharing. It is not always the most accurate as to how my life is at that moment.
Most finstas are where the drama and emotional breakdowns go down...
It’s where bad test grades and shared and angry rants are posted that express how your physics teacher fails to get you or understand the way you learn.
Aside from negative emotions, a finsta also features more personal memories that are too good to sharewith the world. It’s where you and your friends can look back and laugh at the stupid threads you would do to Drakes “Kiki” challenge at 1:00 a.m. on a summer night in the middle of the grocery store parking lot.

Sometimes finstas become a source of conflicts... girls tend to attack each other or making fun of another person passivly (but not directly)just so they can say a post isn’t about anyone in general, even though everyone knows exactly who the post is about.
Anyways, I thought this was worth writing about because as I sit and think about my future and how I’m making my digital mark on the web. It is absolutely wild to think about who will try to access these finstas and rinstas in the future.
Will these finstas be what keeps high school friends closer together?
Will instagram be old and someday all of us try to access these old accounts to see where each others life’s took us?
Or will all of our future kids find some way to hack into all these accounts and make fun of us and haunt us with all the crazy stuff we pulled as high school kids?
These thoughts freak me the heck out but there is really nothing we can do but wait and be aware of the choices we make in our digital world.
That’s all I got on this subject...
See you soon
